About Me

I was never a runner growing up. I was of the "why would anyone ever run" mindset. After I had kids and gained quite a bit of weight, I'd periodically think that running sounded like a good idea. This would happen about twice a year, and with great intentions, I'd start running.

It never lasted. Running is hard. And I felt like it should be easier, or it should get easier faster than it was. I'd stick with it for a few weeks at best and then abandon the seemingly impossible goal.

Summer of 2012, I found out that Disney has races. That changed everything! I kept looking at the run Disney site and dreaming. On a whim I messaged some friends to see if any of them would run the Disney Princess Half Marathon with me. I got a yes back from one of them, and there was no more backing out.

I started training at the end of July 2012. At that point, I literally couldn't run for 60 seconds. A year later, and I've not only completed the Princess Half Marathon, but I also ran 2 other half marathons. Now I'm getting ready to start training for my first full marathon in December 2013 and the Disney Glass Slipper Challenge in February 2014. I'm also tentatively eyeing triathlons.
